Bathymetric Surveying

Bathymetric Surveying allows for the mapping and measurement of surfaces and objects that are underwater. Think of is as the the equivalent of topography underwater. Bathymetric maps illustrate the three dimensional features that lie underwater.

According to NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Balthemetry is:

Bathymetry is the study of the “beds” or “floors” of water bodies, including the ocean, rivers, streams, and lakes.

The term “bathymetry” originally referred to the ocean’s depth relative to sea level, although it has come to mean “submarine topography,” or the depths and shapes of underwater terrain.

Bathymetric Surveying
Bathymetric Surveying is important for pilings, bridges, docks and other construction projects where an underwater surface comes into play. A specially trained surveyor and specialized equipment is required to get accurate underwater data to inform project success.
